Still Life Color

I faced my fear of color and color blending!
And this time I made sure I added a shadow. >.>

Objects. Table buddy Leighton and I liked the way all these ojects looked together and all were made from different materials. So we figured that would be fun.

Medium. Colored pencils

Self Critique. This turned out much better than I expected. I worked really hard to get good value in this, and I tried to use lots of colors and mix them well so it looked more like the actual object. I don’t like how the horseshoe turned out; it looks a little weird to me. I think that the candle holder turned out really nice and I think all the colors I used on the boot blended well together. But adding a background makes this very hard! I don’t think I did the best job I could, I just made it look very fuzzy and blurry on purpose. AND UGH! The shadow! I do NOT think I did the best job there…but at least I added one this time…hah.

Cast Shadow

Let’s get the obvious out of the way.  The cast shadow drawing does not have a cast shadow. (ahahaa very funny!) Er, uh, you see… I lost track of time working on everything else that I forgot to add the shadow… woops. But other than that, everything else looks decent enough, at least for a first drawing, right?!

Covergirl meets Pineapple Freshness. My table buddy Leighton lended me a few objects out of her purse. They are both feminine products that most gals carry around, so they work well together, it makes sense!

Medium. Graphite pencils. And my bare hands. >:)

Le self critique. The mascara tube has value, although I think that once you look closer at it you notice they could have blended better together. I was afraid of the perfume bottle but I think it turned out all right as well. Again, I had not done any real hand drawn art in almost 3 years! If I had simply added the shadow, it would have looked much better, and not like a mascara tube and a perfume bottle floating in white space. (Oh yeah, I could have also used more space… V_V)

Hello!… again.

Except this time it’s not about grass. :)

Introduction? Youuuu got it. Name’s Cynthia. I’ve been doodling on and getting creative with any surface, or object, any person(!), I could find since I was five. I’ve always loved art since I was very tiny, and I’ve always known I’d end up with a career where I’d use it.

I’m one of those who say, “Well, what’s NOT art?” Because I think you’ll find art everywhere if you look closely enough. But in this sense, I love a lot of modern things. Contemporary. Pop art. I love those simple little drawings that really pack a punch. Sometime that screams feeling, something that will leave ME with one, something that has a message! Sadly, I probably won’t be able to name any more too accurately; I usually just look at something and think “Hey, this is sweet, I like it!” without really knowing what category it “fits” into.

I get very self concious when I have to do real life drawings. Adding value scares me and I always back away from it if I can. Value using color as well. I would love to overcome that fear! I want to learn all about colors and which ones to mix with what. I want to get my hands very dirty! I would also like to point out my Academy specialty: Ad design, and I feel that learning some better drawing skills would help me out greatly there as well.

Overall, I’m a pretty creative person and I get some pretty neat ideas every now and then, so it would be awesome if I could make them come out onto a page as identical as I can get them to the vision in my head.

Hello world! :)

There is so much grass! Grass everywhere! Green grass, yellow grass, grass covered in snow, grass soaked from rain and grass full of dog poo. Grass grass grass. :)
